Trying to move recordings
I installed a new HD in my PVR and moved my recordings onto the new drive, I edited the <showname>.mpg.xml files with the correct file path and added the new recordings folder path in SageTV's config. All my old recordings that I had moved now show up in my Imported Shows not my Recorded Shows and all the show details (i.e. actors, time, summary, etc.) are gone. What did I miss?

The correct method is to add the new video target in Sage, shut down Sage (and server), move the files, then restart Sage. Sage will then recognize that these are the same files that used to be on the other path, and updates everything internally.
The XML files are for external use only - Sage doesn't care what's in them. Unfortunately, it is quite likely that Sage has now removed the files from it's database, and moving them back won't recover their data. Hopefully you have a copy of your wiz.bin (Sage's database) file from before the move. Last edited by src666; 03-02-2006 at 10:50 AM. |

Yes, if the recording dir was added after moving the files & restarting SageTV, that would the wrong steps to take.
If you don't have your old wiz.bin, you could try adding a different recording dir on the new drive, exit SageTV, rename the current recording dir on the new drive to the new recording dir name (or move all the files), then restart SageTV. When it finds the files in the 'new' recording dir, it may be able to connect them to their database entries. There are some comments on moving recordings in this old FAQ. Make sure the original recording dir's drive (from before adding the new drive) is still visible to SageTV, so that it knows the recordings are no longer there. - Andy
