Which MP3 Decoder?

Which MP3 decoder does SageTV utilize? Is it based on the priorities set in Control Panel for Audio Codecs?? The reason I ask is that the same MP3 played back via Sage sounds significantly better than Windows Media Player 9.0 and even WinAmp.

If anyone knows how to force Windows Media Player to use a certain audio decoder, preferably the one used by Sage, I would be interested to know this as well.

Thanks in advance.

You do know you can change the default equalizer settings in WM? That will make the sound much better.

I've noticed that my MP3s sound horrible in SageTv aswell.....especially bass. How do you fix this and is anyone else having problems??

Previously someone said change the WM settings, but where and why?? Won't changing this affect the audio in live tv and my recordings??

Think I confused the issue

Upon further research it looks like myHTPC's Window Media Player 9 series plugin is "holding back" the sound of my MP3s. Just to clarify Sage plays back great, Zoom Player plays back great and Windows Media Player plays back great but the plugin myHTPC utilizes sounds "constrained". I didn't even need to adjust the EQ I just needed to test it outside of myHTPC. Thanks for the advice I will continue this post over in the myHTPC forum.

Keep up the great work.
