Picture Quality

Hi,

I have a very stable setup

- AMD 2600+, 1GB, 6600GT
- Component Video to Fujitsu 42" Plasma
- Sage 4.1.3 clean
- 2 x PVR-150 svideo to Foxtel Cable boxes
- Girder + Harmony 880
- Using VMR9 + 3D

In general picture quality is great for most shows and movies but when I watch something where the background moves fast (like sports - Football for instance) I can see a lot on pixelation around the edges of the focused objects (players) as well as the background.

I have tried both the PureVideo and Hauppage video codecs with similar results. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this ?

Thanks

I have found this with the PureVideo codec after giving it a try. I had been using the Intervideo codec (WinDVD) and did not have this issue using this codec.

You can tweak the pvr-150's using a third party app to remove the motion blur and improve the sharpness. You may need to install an older set of drivers to get the tweak tool to work. If you want to do this follow the instructions here:

http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?...46415#msg46415

Using this this tweak tool has massively improved my video quality with the following settings: set the temproal filter to 1, static filter to 0 and crank the sharpness right up.

If you haven't already done so, also try boosting the recording quality setting for such things as sports.
