SPIDF Dolby Digial 5.1

I just installed my Hauppauge 350 PCI card and installed SageTV 1.4 and noticed that the card only has a mini plug audio input. From what I know that will not support DD 5.1 As far as I know the only way to listen to television shows in DD5.1 is using either an Optical or Coaxial digital cable.

Can someone further explain what I may not know about this? Your assistance is greatly appreciated

The 350 and 250 do not support recording Dolby Digital.

They can only record stereo.

This is not good. I Missed that little bit of info when I was reviewing the gear to buy.

Know what Tuner cards do support DD?

I have a very good question and possible solution to this audio issue.

What would happen if I route the AC3 digital output of the Satellite box straight to the AC3 digital input of the Denon 3300 receiver? Would there be audio sync issues?

There would be synch issues for live tv as sage plays a not-quite-live delayed version. For playing back recordings the audio wouldn't even match the show being displayed on screen.

I have a followup question on this.

If you have an optical audio input on your sound card, can you get the PVR-250 to use the sound card for the audio portion of the recording?

I beleive you can setup a delay in the sound so it would be possible.
