MCE Remote and USB-UIRT

I have an MCE Remote and a USB-UIRT. I was hoping to be able to make it so the "Guide" button an others work in Sage. I'm having issues though where I'm not understanding what is going on when I try to program the remote/uirt stuff in Sage.

I've looked at some threads through searching, and I also have the Sage Manual, but I seem to be doing something wrong. So first of all, is what I'm attempting to do possible? Or do I need to get some type of universal remote like a Logitach Harmony and use that with USB uirt?

Perhaps someone could just advise me as to the best remote setup for SageTV. I'm not averse to dropping a little more money into the thing, if I can get everything I need on one remote.

The MCE Remote uses toggle codes (ie 2 different IR commands for the same key) for a number of the buttons which makes it difficult to "teach" devices like USBUIRT. If you want to use this remote, then I think it would be easier to use the MCE receiver to respond to commands and the USBUIRT for sending them if required.

The MCE remote works just fine with a USB-UIRT. All you have to do is program both commands for each button. It only took me a couple of minutes to link every button on the remote to a Sage command. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get both codes to be emitted so that the USB-UIRT can learn them, but it's not difficult.
