Best install method and procedure

After having issues with my Sage 4.x.x installs, I have decided to just start over from scratch to see if that fixes the issue. When i moved from 2.x.x I also swapped machines and thus did a clean install, but I think I did something wrong.

My system:
AMD 64 3400+
1GB DDR 400 ram
nVidia FX5200 128MB video card (DVI out to my HDTV)
Happauge PVR-150

So here is my question. Once I install the OS (windows XP Pro) and get the hardware working, I will install the PVR150. When I install the card, how much of the software/drivers should I use from the CD? Do I just install everything then use Sage, do I only pull drivers, etc? During my last install I just got the drivers from the Hauppauge website and I had issues changing channels.

I just want to make sure that I get this right to avoid any issues. When I did the 2.x.x system i basically just installed everything off the CD but that caused some other issues with the remotes sometimes trying to control the Hauppauge software instead of sage.

So, what do I need to install (from website and/or CD), what should I install, what should I avoid, and in what order should I do things (i.e. install hauppage drivers, install software, install a non-beta version of sage, then upgrade to 4.1.7, etc). Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.
