MVP freezes every 15-20 minutes
Just as the title says, the MVP is freezing every 15-20 minutes. After freezing I just push any button on the remote and the SageTV MVP boot screen comes back up and loads SageTV again within a few seconds. I'm not doing anything at the PC, it's just sitting there with a blank screen. At first it seemed to coincide with the screen saver on the PC so I disabled that and all power saving features. Sage is running in service mode and all the ports mentioned in the FAQ are open in the windows firewall. I also tried turning off service mode and just leaving SageTV open and it still freezes. This is a clean install of XP Pro and I'm running the latest SageTV Beta(4.1.6) on an Athlon XP 2000+ w/ 1GB DDR400 and a PVR500. I'm actually using a new mobo (reason for XP reinstall) with an NF2 U400 Chipset, so I did disable checksum offload like some others with Nvidia Lan had done. While I do have a USR Wireless G router, both the server and MVP are wired directly into it. I'm using the Default STV(XML).
When it's working there is no stuttering and the picture on the tv is perfect, much better then I expected. PQ is actually just as good as my DirecTivo. Any suggestions? EDIT: I should mention that this also doesn't only happen with live tv. It has happened when playing back MPEG2 and Divx files that were already recorded/converted. Not really a idea what the problem is, but maybe just some troubleshooting ideas (you may have already tried/thought of these). The ideas may only be worth what you paid for them (nothing)
![]() Try enabling the Sage logging to see if Sage is recognizing a problem when the reboot happens (I am assuming you are using 4.1.6). You can use Ethereal to capture the connection information from your server side. You may have to create some filters in Ethereal to avoid too large of a capture file (but maybe not if it is only 15 -20 min). You can also check your DHCP client lease time information in your router to see if it is set for a really short time for some reason. Just a something I ran into (mine was set to 24 hrs instead of 15 to 20 min though). EDIT: also check your MVP version to be sure it is not a D3 - there are numerous reports on the web concerning the D3 and recalls/repairs by Hauppauge. Probably not your issue though. Thanks for the suggestions Para - turns out that I'm a bit retarded.
After you mentioned the DHCP lease time I looked at it and it's set to 7 days. Then I looked at the lease log and saw something really stupid. My MVP was getting an IP that i had already statically assigned to another PC - so they were fighting over the IP - Guess the pc won every 15-20 minutes! ![]() Changed the DHCP pool to something that won't interfere with my statics and we're back in business! Thanks again! ![]() FYI - MVP is a D3A, just got 2 from Radio Shack last week. |

![]() Don't feel bad. You probably couldn't match some of the retarded things I have done. |
