SageTV 4.1.3 / Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 'HOT' AUDIO issue
I didn't know if I should go H/W or S/W forum -- but since this is related to SageTV I thought I would post here!
Okay -- the "support" @ Sage is non-existent on this and I've gotten desperate for an answer. The line-in audio on my Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 is super-hot compared to the audio from the ATI HDTV Wonder (or the playback of any file from disk.) I've tried registry tweaks from Hauppauge tech support. I've tried the Hauppauge Tweak tool from cask-of-amontillado (via the shspvr forum) and reduced L+R to -102db w/ no AGC. I even lowered TvTuner to -102db. I've tried the Radlight Filter Manager to control outputs from AC-3 Filter (even though I'm using nVidia's Purevideo Platinum.) I've downloaded and installed the latest versions of the drivers and software (per instructions by Hauppauge tech support) Output levels for audio in WinTV2000 application is just fine. There's a HUGE DISPARITY in SageTV 4.1.3 (WinTV-PVR-150 audio is so hot, it is distorted) whereas ATI HDTV Wonder, 5.1 DVD playback and MP3 files are just fine -- excellent in fact. This also happens on the Clients I have on other PCs connecting to the SageTV server, so I don't think this is a localized issue (meaning the local sound card or decoders only). So -- any other application using the PVR-150, the audio is fine. SageTV 4.1.3 and clients it is WAY TOO LOUD. I've read all the threads I could find in this forum, and I've tried all the tweaks, and I'm not getting anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. |

which driver version are you using? Are you sure you're using the older base driver? What does it say in device manager for driver version?
I've had no such audio problems with sage....from version 2.2.8 to 4.1.3. I used the older base driver from about a year ago on my install CD, then installed ver. 23061 with reg edits. Wintv2000 may have been updated to include some way of fixing the audio volume spcifically for that application. I'm pretty sure you're going to find that it's not sagetv, it's crappy hauppauge drivers. The issue has always been on the recording end (in the mpeg file), hence any player will exhibit the same distortion problem, including sage client. Follow the instructions exactly listed down the page on http://www.shspvr.com/pvr2_drv-apps.html for whatever OS you're using, and revert to an older base driver version ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/wintv-...0.24.23025.zip and then install 23074 ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/wintv-...00/prerelease/ then you should be able to edit the reg setting as per http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/p...olume_(general) because the 074 driver is supposed to be the last of the drivers that allow the OLD way of changing the lin in volume. If 074 doesn't work, I have 061 somewhere backed up that I could post. Ben

OK, here's what I have....and I've never had a problem with corrupt files, etc with sagetv. However, I only use svid for video and line-in for audio. again, needs to be installed over an older version of the base drivers.
good luck. Ben

It would be really great if I could select one set of decoders for H/W card, and another set of decoders for another H/W card. That would actually fix my problem. If nothing else: someone please recommend a different card. The ATI HDTV Wonder has an analog tuner, but the audio through the S-video port is static (no audio tuned) & SageTV says they only support the digital side of that card. The Hauppauge was going to be the solution for the DirecTV inputed video, but the audio levels are just too hot. |

I've found reinstalling the base drivers to be much more difficult then necessary. It took about 2hr on the phone with a firend and like 10 reboots to get his back to the older driver..
Post your problems at SHSpvr.com forums, more knowledgeable over there.
