Intermittent corrupt recordings...

I am having frustrating problems with 4.0.0.56 that I never had with 2.x. I record about 30 homeschool classes each week. Since upgrading to 4, one out of every 8-10 videos is corrupt and locks up whatever touches it. Quicktime says all the components are not there, Media Player just stops responding, Real Audio does the same. TMPG DVD Author shows the video, but only the first frame, then locks up. At times, it will go far enough to say something about a VOB error. After that, DVD Author slows to a crawl until it has to be restarted.

First, how do I correct this problem? Second, is there a way to fix the videos I have?

what capture card are you using? did you update the drivers for it perhaps? I've experienced corrupt recordings with certain hauppauge drivers.

I will double check that because I cannot remember. It came with the sagetv software bundle, so I am guessing that it is the 250. Maybe I can find some newer drivers for it somewhere.

Thanks for the lead...
