Can't ignore Sage: HDTV=> you're a Player!
I may seem impulsive... imagine a prisoner -one who's not had a conjugal visit in 10 years- now hears his wife's footsteps coming up the cellblock stairs...
Impulsive? Very! Here is satellite buff of the original breed: BUD or C-band. Our majestic dishes (10') sweep the Clarke belt from horizon-to-horizon. Our community of enthusiasts (and it was purely a hobby, at first) was marginalized by market forces seeing broader appeal in simpler, cheaper, smaller.. but C-banders are rewarded for tenacity and their early adoption of (what began as) complex, buggy, pricey & unfriendly gear -- we believe the compensations merit the input: we get the best signals, best variety and best, customized "a la carte" pricing. *But* there's no convenient way for us to timeshift HDTV off our HDD200 (or similar) HD decoder using the standard: Motorola "4DTV" technology. Niche websites solicit us but it's a project and a half: shipping them our receivers or STBs and PCs for special hardware/software customization & mods (& at least US$700). Many are waiting for a simpler scheme. Are you IT? Is it YOU? Well then... please walk me through it, Sensei! Minions on avsforum (and other C-band haunts) are pricking up their ears --like dogs near an imminent earthquake. Woof! Last edited by Maggot; 02-18-2006 at 02:20 AM. |

The ONLY way to timeshift 4DTV/HD200 is with that "special hardware/software customization & mods".........now US$550. No other way.
yep it sucks sometimes to be a C-band lover. I do use Sagetv to timeshift SD off of my 4dtv-922 |
