Playback Error
Newbie here...
Installed SageTV into a 1-year old Dell PC running XP. Plenty of memory, lots of storage, etc., etc. Major problem: Can't use SageTV to watch any live video or play anything back. Instead, I get the following error: Playback Error sage.playbackexception: error (-4,0x80040217) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Cleveland1 |

Have you tried using a different decoder?

Thanks for the quick reply. Ask me a question about Word for Windows or other office productivity software and I'm a whiz. But I have no idea how to find or install a different decoder. Can you be of further help? Again, thanks. Cleveland1 |

Sure. Go to Setup Menu > Detailed Setup > Video/Audio > MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter. Whats listed in there?
You may also need to download the following app to see what is set up as your default decoder: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en |

Thanks for the rapid reply, again.
My MPEG2 Video Decoder was set to SageTV MPEG Video Decoder. I reset it to InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge, but when I tried to watch a video, I received the same error code. I went back and changed it to "default" and the same thing happened. I tried to paste a screen shot from the Windows Utility you suggested I install, below, but I can't figure out how to do a paste into the window. Instead, I've attached that screen shot in a PDF. |

To All,
Someone gave me the answer to my own question, so I'll post the solution here for anyone else reading this thread: Try using the configuration utility to set the video playback settings in Sage. Go to Setup > Run Configuration Wizard > Configure Video Playback. Start with basic and test things out, then the next and so on. And....it worked !!!
