Stuttering / volume changes and others...

Using the latest beta I am getting HD stutters in VMR9 only, if I switch to overlay, the stuttering goes away. I tried different decoders, and the only thing that changes the stuttering is Overlay mode. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

The volume of the HD channels coming off the A180 card are MUCH lower than those from the PVR250. I put the 250 volume at 10% to get the same output for the a180 card at 100%. Anyone else notice this huge difference?

If I use the MVP it changes the aspect ratio of the main sage install from 16x9 back to 4x3. Also, changing some settings on the MVP screen (overlay, video decoders, etc) make the main sage install change too. I thought there was different setting for both and they do not share settings?

I wish there was a way to have the digital out of my computer pass dolby digital along with the analog out from the analog port on the mobo. That way, I can use the receiver and the tv without switching audio settings. (there might be a way to do this and I don't know how)?

Anyone have any fixes for these items, or anyone having these probs?

-Bryan

VMR9 in and of itself does not cause stuttering. However there are a lot of issues for some people so it would probably help to be more specfic about your card, decoders, box and that sort of thing. I had terrible stuttering at the start and it ended up being that my SATA controller is not compatible with the A180. Go figure.

If you list the relevant equipment maybe someone with the same setup can help you. I pass bit perfect 5.1/DTS et al to a my receiver and regular analog audio to a tv elsewhere in the house via a Chaintech AV710.

I think it is the VMR9 that is causing the stuttering. If everything else stays the same (decoders, etc.) and the only thing I change is the setting for VMR9 to overlay, the stuttering goes away.

Radeon 9800 pro with the latest catalyst drivers
Nvidia decoders (allthough in VMR9 other decoders do the same thing as above)
SATA drives.

Interesting for you that the SATA controller was causing the stuttering.... If that were the case here, why would switching to overlay smooth out the video.

Can anyone else here confirm or deny this that is having stuttering?

With the audio.... I am using the built-in from the MOBO optical out and analog out. What decoders are you using for audio? That could be my problem.

Also the two other issues described above, the really annoying one is the volume differences.

I am sure you are correct. As I was saying some people have issues with VMR9. It is not in and of it self the issue because it also works for a great many people.

It probably wouldn't. I was only relating my own experience. Unless you have a SiI3112 SATA controller on you mobo that is.

Do a search, you will find lots of people with stuttering issues. Some do, some don't.

Also do a search for your card# and vmr9 and/or stuttering. I would think the first thing to know is can other people with your hardware (ie, cpu, vid card) run VMR9 ok.

You could also try another player to see if you can eliminate Sage. TheatreTek (free demo) comes to mind, or ZP.

I use the AC3 filter and Nvidia's decoder. But my card plays out both digital and analog even I just listen to an mp3 with winamp.

All I can add is that 5.1 audio is always a lot lower in volume than other stations in stereo/mono whether its with Sage, Tivo or just straight from the STB. Beyond that I don't know enough to help.
