Hmmm ... A thinking out of the box Sage plugin question??
About a year ago I talked a friend of mine at work into trying out Sage. It's a year later and he loves it ... I'm always telling him about its ability to be customized to do different things ...
He works in our Telecom / Network group ... and came up with a "very cool" concept. ![]() Here's his question; Would it be possible to build a plugin for Sage that would use a PC Camera and allow Video Confrencing on your TV, over the net, through Sage?? ![]() Personally I think this is a great idea ... Of course have no clue on what it would take or even if it's possible. ![]() Wonder what all you developer types think? Been thought of already? Possible, but a huge amount of work? Not possible? ![]() Thanks, T. |

Maybe this will be easier when they roll out place-shifting. I don't know if you would require 2 place-shifting clients and 2 servers or just 2 servers. Just guessing at the possibilities. But it seems that the lower bit rate of place-shifting (via MPEG4) is the most likely avenue. However, I am not sure that even it would be timely enough, since I remember Jeff said that there was a delay of approx 20 seconds IIRC (per the CES video). As he said though, there is a lot of room to improve (since it was just developed). Optimization for the video conferencing might not be the same as for watching a show. Cool Idea

Probably easier to make a plugin that interact with a program that already handles this.
