Re-install Sage ?

Should Sage be re-installed after replacing the video card ?

The question is because I can't seem to get the MVP up and running.

Is the best way to re-install, first uninstall via the control panel and then install, or can I just install over the current ?

Ken C

Sorry, this should probably be in the SageTV software forum

I don't think you would have to reinstall it after changing the video card... I believe I've done that. Was the MVP working previously? What does it do now? Maybe the firewall got reset somehow -- mine seems to do that after some system changes.

I don't think you should need to do this, but to answer that question: If installing an update, you can just install over existing version. If re-installing the same version, I think you would have to uninstall first. (I always make a backup copy of the entire install dir tree first.)

Thanks, Andy. I didn't re-install SageTV. Found the problem was some interaction between the new Catalyst driver and BIOS settings. The AGP aperture size, (was at 128 mb, now 64) and init pci or agp, (now init pci). Really have no idea what those settings are all about, but probably caused drivers to collide. In any event, everything is currently working. As long as I never have to reboot .... right !!
