Linux server & Windows client: comskip

I have my sagetv server on one of my linux boxes, which I use rarely to actually watch tv on. I use my windows box which has the sagetv client installed on it to watch and schedule recordings.

I would like to be to be able to use comskip on my client. I have yet to find a clear and concise place that explains how to setup comskip on a client using linux as the server. What is the best way to go about setting this up? I understand I need to change some directories. I tried both changing & adding "video recording directories" to a UNC path ie: "\\192.168.1.104\tv". But nothing appears to happen. The directory stay "\var\media\tv".

I also would like to re-encode the 3.2GB files to something a little more manageable in dvix, xvid, or ogg; with out comercials. How do I set this up between windows and linux? and does the encoding get done on the client side or server side? Does it matter where the encoding is done? I server is no slouch with a P4 sitting in it, but my client has dual opterons in it and should be able re-encode much much faster than the P4.
