Pay per view titles in EPG?
How do I get the Pay per view titles to appear in the guide? It just says Pay-Per-View and not the actual movie that is playing on that channel.
P.S. This is for DirecTV Thanks |

I think this is a global problem with Tribune's data source. I get the PPV information for my Cable but I've heard people don't get the lineups for DirecTV. Do they list the shows on Zap2it's site for your lineup?
If they are not appearing you will have to do a manual recording and adjust the start/stop time for each to record PPV movies.

No zap2it does not display the pay per view data on the website. This really bothers me as I will have to run another cable from my sat receiver to my TV so I can switch between normal feed and sage feed if I want to view what PPV movies are on.
Any way around this? |

Nobody has a solution to this. most HD channels on BEV don't show up either. The only hope I have right now is the author of TSreader is adding xmltv export for sat cards to grab the epg from the stream but that won't help you on Directv

OK I just found out something weird about this problem. I am currently watching a football game on NFL sunday ticket and in the guide it just says "NFL Football" just like the pay-per-views it has to actual data of who is playing. YET in the recording schedule it says "NFL Football - Arizona Cardinals vs St. Louis Rams" THE GAME I AM WATCHING!! Now this is kind of exciting. Where is it grabing this data from and why would the guide not be displaying this data?
This is a huge issue for me especially with NHL Center ICE coming up as I assume all the guide channels will just say "NHL Center ICE" and not the actual teams that are playing. I checked the rest of the guide too see if Arizona Cardinals vs St Louis Rams was somewhere else like ESPN or something but nothing. So where is it Sage grabbing this info from and why cannot it display in the guide?? Thanks!! |

It's part of the Detailed Info. Right click on the cell, or push the yellow button on the remote control and you'll see the option. You can also click the Info button on the toolbar or hit Ctrl-I to see info while staying in the guide.

OK cool. That works. So now is there anyway to get the detailed info into the guide so that you don't have to push the button and it'll say what game is playing. Instead of "NFL Football"?
This still doesn't resolve the Pay Per View issue but at least it is half there. |

A Tivo Subscriber
I wanted to respond to your post because I too would like to have the Pay Per View listings for Sage. But, for your information not even Tivo has the ability to get pay-per-view listings on the Series 1 or 2 base boxes. You need to get the DirectTV Tivo Combo box to get the listings.
There is always hope. |

Here's what Tribune said:
"Unlike cable, DirecTv and DISH have always treated their pay-per-view channels as proprietary." Looks like they won't be providing us that data any time soon.

I know of one guild that has ppv listing for direct-tv. Titan tv listing has it all. Wonder if you can work a deal out with them.

Just visited Titan TV's webiste. This is really cool. It has all the info published for the Pay-Per-Views and all the sporting events, NHL, NFL etc which would probably help ALOT of your customers. I did notice that they also give you the option to download the EPG data which might help you guys out?
Dan, Jeff: Is there anyway of using TitanTV's listings for DirecTV either on your side of things (design of software) or ours somehow? Thanks ALOT, and hopefully this will be addressed at sometime. |

Wow, That is really cool. It only has 8 days worth of data, but for pay per views that is better than we had before. I wonder if there is a way to mix the 14 day data stream with the 8 days worth of pay per view data?
I look forward to seeing what is possible! |

We are limited by the data provided to us by Zap2it and the Cable and Satellite companies. I apologize for any inconveniences this causes, but you will experience the same problems with other PVR apps that use the Zap2it data. Your best bet is to contact your Satellite provider and tell them to provide the data to Zap2it so you can get better use their service.

In case anyone cares, the TitanTV download is captured in a Java Script include file. I think the file is grid.js. It builds a couple of arrays with the information in it which is used to draw the HTML page.
I was thinking of building a XMLTV app to download the information and build the XML document. Unfortunately with todays role out of nation wide EPG coverage, I no longer think it is worth it. The SageTV EPG and XMLTV do not peacefully co-exist. It would only be of value to those who stay with XMLTV for all their EPG information. |

I am sure some people would like to get this information onto their tv guide. Why can't the two data files be merged to draw in the Pay-Per-View titles?

If you could somehow incorporate the ppv listings and the sports games names into the guide and have the ability for first run/rerun I would do that forsure WAY over sage's epg.
Even with the Nation wide EPG coverage more than likely it is not going to have the DTV pay per view info and the Sports games info. I would do anything to get this info into my guide. It is a real show stopper for me. |

DOes the TITAN TV listings include the First Run/Rerun status?
Thanks P.S: jkaisre, anything I can do to help let me know. If I have to manually type in the listings into some file and was able to do it say for a 2 week stint I would even do that. |
