Watch recorded shows in WMP?

Hi all. I'm a complete n00b to HTPCs and I'm about to build my first one.

I am demo-ing Sage4 and I really like it. I'm pulling OTA HD and using a Cat's Eye DTA150. I've been watching recorded shows as well, really taking advantage of the PVR functions.

I would like to be able to watch recorded shows on my laptop over wireless. Is this possible with Sage? I looked at the files with ts (transport stream?) extionsions and cannot open them with WMP. Do the files need conversion of some sort?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but my attempt at searching yielded no real answers.

TIA

You'll need an MPEG2 Decoder installed. It can play back in SageTV using the one from Sage, but to play back in WMP you'll need one like Nvidia PureVideo or one of the many others out there - The Nvidia is probably the most popular.

If you like the SageTV UI, then I strongly suggest you download the trial version of SageTV Client and try that on your laptop. I found it a much better solution than WMP for what you're trying to do. A client license will set you back another $30 when you get around to buying, but from an ease-of-use standpoint I think it's worth it. YMMV.
