I apologize in advance if this has been brought up before, but my feeble attempts at search haven't really given me much to go on...
It appears that the white lettering at the top of the sage screens (usually date and sometime the "record" icon) are leaving after images on my new plasma. I've taken the normal precautions agains burn-in (turn down contrast and brightness, expand to 16:9, etc...), but I'm still concerned. Is there an easy way to change the font colors to something less stark? Will I have to look at a customization? thank you, Darryl |

I think in Setup Details there is a video orbiting option that should help that situation. Can't remember exactly where it is.

Thanks for the info on the orbiting function - I'm actually using it. my concern is for the menus themselves. The oribit function works on 4:3 content - not the menus (which fill the 16:9 screen). So the big concern is with the large white letters used in the menus...
Thanks, Darryl |

That's what the screensaver is for.

Thank you everyone for you responses. They are all right-on with general precautions to prevent burn-in. My requirements are a little more specific. I will have the Sage screen up while making changes, perusing music, imported videos, etc. All the screens have the same "header" information (time, "REC" if recording, etc) that stays in the same position on just about every screen. This is why I specifically asked about changing the font color. I've noticied image retention on the Plasma with just a couple of minutes worth of "exposure" to the menus. I believe that I can reduce this effect if the letters and number where not stark white.
So, again, thank you for all the responses, but any suggestions on an easy way to change the intensity/color of the text ? Thank you, Darryl |

Now you're getting into Studio territory. There's a whole separate forum for that, with how-to posts for beginners, but if all you want to do is change the header font, here's how:
In Sage, press Ctrl+Shift+F12 to open Studio. In the Studio window, double-click Main Menu to expand it one level. Right-click the italicized MainMenu theme (Swiss cheese symbol) and choose Properties. Click the gray bar next to Foreground color to bring up a color-picker dialog. Choose a new color and click OK. To see the changes take effect, you may have to Apply the properties editor, then bring Studio to the front and press F6 to refresh the menu. This should change everything but the menu title. For that, find the text widget (bold b symbol) with the words "Main Menu" next to it. Double-click that to expand it. Right-click the Menu title theme and repeat the above steps. To save your changes, use the File > Save As command and pick a new filename. It's generally not a good idea to overwrite the default STV with your customizations. That should get you started. But again, you can get much more info about using Studio in the Studio forum and by reading the Studio docs.

Greg-
Thanks for the response. I was planning to take a look at studio eventually, so here's a good excuse to dive in. Thanks again, Darryl |

Out of curiosity--what plasma do you have?

I picked up the Vizio P50 at Costco. Really has a nice picture, with lots of inputs (hdmi, component, RBG, etc). Running at 1368x768 and picture is great. There's quite a long thread over at AVSForum about it.
