Is this sempron 3100 gonna be beefy enough to transcode?

Anyone have any thoughts on whether this combo will be enough to use the experimental transcode feature in the current beta?

I don't know about the Sempron, but my AMD Xp 3000 does seem to do transcoding well, but all other clients that are running start stuttering while the transcoding is going. So If you have just one client (The MVP) then probably it is enough.

The Sempron is equivalent to the Intel Celeron. Neither is beefy enough to do much of anything!

This depends ENTIRELY on what model sempron you are talking about. The Celeron is a crippling of a slug chip to begin with. If the Semprons you are talking about are based on the Athlon XP's then they aren't very powerful (still outclass the Celeron's, however). If the Sempron is based off of the Athlon 64 (which the 3100+ IS) then that is a different ballgame altogether. The 3100+ Sempron is for all intent and purpose just a reduced cache version of the Athlon 64, same memory controllers, 64 bit extensions, etc.
