2 Playback Glitches

I've been using Sage since version 1.4. I've had two relatively small problems over the last couple years. I'm not sure if its possible to do anything about them, but I thought I might ask.

The first problem occurs when I reach the end of a show while watching live tv. It often takes a long time before Sage correctly detects that the live tv recording has finished playback, and that it should start playing the next file. Certainly there's going to be a pause for some period of time, but sometimes it is very long. I think I know what happens. If a TV show is 180 minutes long, Sage will play that file for 180 minutes. Normally thats fine, but my computer's clock can be pretty inaccurate, which causes the problems, especially while watching long shows. For instance, if my clock gets off by one minute over the course of a 3 hour show, at minute 179 Sage will correctly switch over to a new recording file. But, instead of Sage starting to play back that recording file, it will continue trying to play back the old one for another minute, even though there's no more data to play. Its not a huge issue, but it would be nice if some future version of Sage could try to handle this better.

The second issue occurs when playing back a recorded show. Say I watch the entire recording to the point that it kicks me back out to the recordings screen. Now, suppose I decide I want to watch part of that show again. If I click on the same episode, it takes me to the video screen at the last instance of the recording. In that screen, I can rewind or seek to previous parts of the episode, and while I will get sound correctly, it will not play the video. So, if I decide I want to rewatch that show, I have to first open a different show, and then go back and open the one from before. Its a little annoying.

First problem sounds like its the clock? Just use a utility which keeps the time up to date...that being said, how is your clock getting that far off in a few hours? I successfully use dimension 4, which updates the time at any interval necessary. Recordings are now perfectly timed.

The second problem, I've never had happen. If you push stop at the end of the show, then open it, does it also do that?

Yes, the first problem is very much related to my computers clock. I do use a utility from AnalogX that syncs every 30 minutes at :15 and :45. Its makes my recordings start and stop at the right time, but I still suffer the playback issue described above.

If I push stop and then open it the problem does not occur. I assume when you push stop Sage actually closes the file, whereas if you simply reach the end of the recording, Sage kicks you out to the recording screen but does not close the file until you start playing another recording. Try opening a recording, seek right until the recording it almost finished, and let it play out. When it kicks you out to the list of recordings automatically after its finished playing, try opening that same file again, and try rewinding. I've used Sage on several machines using several decoders and I've always had that problem.

Has there been any kind of fix for the problem of Sage not resetting played files when they reach the end?? I have the video preiew window set to display when active, and when it kicks back to the recording screen, I have a thumbnail of the last frame of the show in the upper right hand corner. More of an annoyance than anything, but it is sloppy to me, and something that should be fixed, and I would assume would be relatively simple.

Sage actually fixed this second problem (specifically that the last second or 5 wouldn't even play) for the main software. However, as of 4.1.13 it is still broken for MVP.
