FireFly Remote + Girder 3.31c + Sage 4.1.3
After a lot of server building and customization my system pretty much melted down when I installed a sound Blaster Card and Creatives aweful drivers. No matter what I did after that it would lock up with a hardware error. After much anguish after investing so much time to get it just right I gave up and just wiped the drive and reinstalled everything from scratch. The good news is I have yet to experience a hardware error.
My server has Hauppage 250 cards installed and working fine, all of the Mobo LAN, and Sound drivers are installed, my ATI video card is AOK and the Nvidia Decoder is working well. In the last setup I had installed Sage 4.0.0 installed. This time I installed 4.1.3. Sage works out of the box great. I have not done any customizing at this point, nut even the unofficial secret stuff. So, my next goal was to install my Firefly again. I installed the Basic Driver Only (no Beytond Media junk), then Girder 3.31c with the Firefly Plugin, then the sagetv2.0.19.gml file. This is just as I had it working perfectly on the 4.0.0server. Well, Sage 4.1.3 doesn't seem to respond to the remote. I know the remote (with Basic Drivers) and the transmitter are working fine becasue Girder in the system tray responds when a button is pressed and when in Girder it acknowledges the button commands. So, is there a reason Sage 4.1.3 is not responding or am I missing something. As I said, it worked great with 4.0.0. Thanks, T. Last edited by mightyt; 01-29-2006 at 10:37 PM. |

Solved My Own Problem
OK .... I figured it out
Apparently I forgot that in the Files > Settings > Plugins dialog I had to check the SendMessage Plugin along with the Firefly Plugin ... After I did that it all worked great ... Guess I should make not of that for next time !!! T. |

Hmm ... One Girder problem solved and another appeared??
So, checking "SendMessgae" option in the File > Settings > Plugins Tab solved the problem with Sage responding to my Firefly remote .... But When ever the system is rebooted Girder launches with "SendMessage" unchecked again. I have to maually recheck it for the Remote to work with Sage. I have tried the obvious File > Save, but it still reverts to back to when rebooted. Any ideas Girder Gurus?? Thanks, T. |

I am having trouble with my girder setup as well.
Checking the auto enable input device on the girder plug in section has sendmessage starting up for me, but it say "not sending events" It appears in girder like it is working, but nothing happening in sage. Curious, on sage detailed setup, commands, do you selectremote: none or external setup with girder? Any idea why send message says not sending events? FYi, I am setting up with IRTRANS software and irtrans plug in. |

That's exactly what happens to me ... Once SendMessage is checked it works with Sageeventhough it Girder does as you point out say "not sending events" ... but, when rebooted it becomes unchecked???
And yes, when I set up Sage I told it "none or extrnal remote" since I am not using one of the internally supported remotes like Hauppauge, etc. For me, it's just the Firefly Remote with driver ... Did not install any of the Beyond Media junk. So, I guess I am no alone ... just wish I knew why this was happening ... Hopefully someone will chime in with a solution ... Thanks, T. |

sendmessage not working ?
Its not working for me at all...
Does send message have to be enabled in sage? Does the plug in for girder have to know where the actual program is? How do you auto start the sendmessage program? Any info is greatly appreciated. |

I know with me I also need to have the Firefly plugin DLL installed in the same folder as the SendMessage folder and then enable it in Girder just as I did SendMessage. I got my Firefly Pluging from the Girder link below ... It looks like they have an IR Trans Plugin there as well but not sure if that is what you are already using.

I have the irtrans loaded too. Its weird, when I have girder open and I press left, it says left. It looks like it should work, it just isnt sending hte command to sage for some odd reason.
May uninstall and reinstall... |

Oh ... Just thought of something ...
Might try deleting and recreating the Eventstring .... I remember when I first installed girder and opened my GML the Eventstrings did not work??? I deleted them all and recreated them with Learn Event and they worked ... UPDATE Well, outside of my Girder problem I have been having some non-Windows blue screen hardware problems for quite some time. Locks up when recording multiple shows at the same itme. Thought it was a Sound Card I installed, then I took it our and rebuit the entire drive from scratch. Then I got it with a Hauppauge USB2 PVR installed on the new build and no sound card. Removed the USB2 PVR and still got it when recording shows at the same itme on my 2 remaining Hauppauge 250's ??? So, I decided to go up to my Mobo site and checl for BIOS updates and Driver Updates ... Well, my BIOS was at 1.1a (2003) and downloaded 1.1e (2005) !! So, I went and updated everything and just noticed, through several reboots, my Girder works just great in Sage!! I don't have to go in to Girder and recheck SendMessage anymore! Now, I have 2 shows recording to see if my blue screen lockup is gone ... Last edited by mightyt; 01-31-2006 at 11:13 PM. Reason: Problem SOLVED ... I think! |
