Lockup when configuring SageTV with nvidia VIVO cap
Hi all ... I'm just having a look at pvr software at the moment and have narrowed down the leading 2 contenders to sagetv and windvr ... I downloaded the sage trial version and installed, but the program hangs when it's in its initial configuration stages (after successful install). It detects the only capture device is my gigabyte 6600GT VIVO card, using the nvidia WDM driver.
When I select this and s-video input, it prompts me saying that it's going to preview the video capture and then just locks up, using 100% (or near enough to) CPU time. The only out from this is a long and painful fight with it to get enough CPU cycles to kill it with task manager or a hard reboot. Has anyone run into the same problem? |

I think Sage just supports capturing via aTV tuner capture card and not other capture devices like video in on a video card. Even though Sage see it, it's not supported. (I don't think.)

I believe you need a hard encoder of somesort for sage to work with. Traditional TV tuners or other raw capture devices that rely on CPU time to encode probably won't work unless there's something out there that can make a virtual device (which will use the CPU time to encode your video) so it will look like it's a hard encoder.
