I have about 400 gigs of storage devoted to SageTV for recording shows.
I have my recording quality set to Great 2gb/hour. When I look at the SageTV "System Information", its says something ot the effect of "Total Library Content: 40 days, x minutes .." Does this mean that I can store up to 40 day's worth of recording? I am asking because the math does not seem right. 400 gigs at 2gb/hour recording quality gives me about 200 hours of recording time. 200 hours divided by 24 hours a day gives me about 8 days of recording which is far less than 40 that System Information shows. Or is this a known bug by any chance? Question on capacity. My Sage says (using neil dynamic menu) about 176 hours available for recording. When I go to System Information, is says "Total Library Content" 40 days. I have about 400 gigs available for Sage recordings. The math does not add up. |

Library content is the amount of imported files you have.
If you have ~400 gigs free in your recording folder (available video diskspace) and you record at 2gigs/hr, then the 176 hours is about right. |

Ok, I see.
What is the "standard" recording rate for you guys? 2GB/hour "Great"? I have a 32 inch TV. I tried lower but the recordings looked somewhat bad , but recordings sure eat up a lot disk space quickly. Any other tricks to save on disk space? Yes, I formated my disk at 64k block. |
