Help with Sage Client

I want to set up a client / server network for Sage. I have a 350 and a 150 Hauppauge card. My question is, whats the best setup to use these cards so I can use the Premium cable input on my big screen in the family room and basic cable in the bedroom? How can I use the remotes that came with the cards? It looks to me like I have to have both cards on the server Sage. Is there any way to put a 350 card in one and use the 150 card in the other?
Thanks,
Mike

You could put both cards into a single PC and run the STB's output into one & just run coax analog cable to the other. The client in the other room will be able to watch either source. You would use SageTV + SageTV Client. You would need some other remote solution for the client.

Or, you could put one tuner card in each PC, then use 2 full SageTV licenses. The 2nd SageTV installation would be configured to act as a network encoder + client. This would give you the Hauppauge remote on both systems.

I really like this option(Network encoder). Where can I find more info on how to do this?

The info I remember is here. Remember -- you'll need 2 SageTV licenses; 1 for each PC.

To also use SageTV as a client on the other PC, you would run SageTV.exe again with the '-client' command line parameter.

Okay, I've been looking at Network encoder till my eyes have crossed! Let me see if I've got this right...
Set up Sage on both PC's
Configure both to see their respective capture cards
Configure one to use as "Network encoder"
Minimize "Network encoder" Sage app
Open another instance on "Network encoder" pc using '-client' in parameter
Both PC's will use one Sage UI.

How should I setup the video directories?
Sorry if I sound like a igno, just want to get this straight, there's lots of info on Sage Recorder used as a network encoder and it sounds like Sage has changed things around a bit.
Thanks,
Mike

Okay, I tried to set up network encoding as outlined by Opus4. No joy, the system information on the tuner card says "network encoder false". I think there must be another step. Do I use "Sage Server" on the network encoder pc?

As I mentioned in the post w/the info I was given, I haven't done that kind of setup yet. If all else fails, I suggest contacting tech support to see if they know of any other steps.

But, a couple things to check: make sure any firewalls are allowing SageTV full access to/from each machine; and, if you are not using v4.1.6, download & install that version since it improved some things recarding encoder server discovery

Oh, and once they are configured, you would set up your video recording directories as you normally would... or you cuold look at the release note #1 for v4.1.6 to limit where a network encoder saves recordings & try playing with that setting.

Thanks, Andy!
I was just thinking that so I went to look at what version of Sage I was running .... ver 4.1.3. So, I went to see what the newest version was and Lo and Behold 4.1.6 beta was just revamped. Went to download it and bang.. my computer crashed. I'll get it up and running and let you know what I come up with.
Thanks again.
Mike

No Joy! Loading the new version (4.1.6) didn't make a difference.
I submitted a support request on this issue. When they answer and I get educated, I'll report back.
