Another multi tuner question

After testing several pvr programs, I really like the SageTv layout/functionality. I am however looking into buying an second tv card to watch and record at the same time. As I currently use the 350 HW decoder Svideo output to the TV, I thinking to use the 2nd card for sceduled recordings only. Would there be any way to "tell" Sage which capture device it should use for what ?

Basically, you tell SageTV what shows to record & it automatically determines which tuner to use for each show. The 350's output is not tied to using its tuner as the show to be watched, so you can use it to watch any currently recording or previously recorded show (as long as they are in mpeg2 format, of course).

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply. Watching previous recordings while recording in the background is already possible using 1 tuner. I was hoping it will be possible to record any scheduled program while also watching live TV (different channels) using the 350 hw decoder at the same time. Will this work ?

Tnx again

If I understand your question correctly: yes, that's what I meant.

With 2 tuners, you can record 2 shows at once & either watch one of them live or watch a previous recording -- live TV is really just a recording that happens to still be in progress.

OK I have a dumb question. I am currently running a PVR150 card recording off a dish network receiver. I use the blaster that came with it to change the channels on the external box. If I where to add a second card to run another dish receiver what would I need to do for the blaster config? I assume I would need to hide the IR eye for the second card and then each card would still blast whatever receiver they are connected to? How will it know which one to do what with?

Not sure if I understand. Is sage configured with just one channel to output your remote selected one ?

If you configure sage with all channels I think you are good to go with your cards remote. Not the dish one

I don't know if a single 150 IR blaster can control multiple tuners -- perhaps, if they use separate IR codes, but I don't have one so I can't confirm that the Hauppuage software will let you set it up. But, I can tell you that you cannot use multiple IR blasters on multiple 150s because their IR software only talks to a single card. If you can't control multiple STBs w/a single 150's blaster, then you could look into serial control or a USB-UIRT.
