Sagetv for output from pc to tv only
I'm having trouble getting a second and third cable outlet installed in my apartment, so recording live tv will be held off for a while. My question is can sagetv work as just an output from pc to tv or do I need something else?

There is nothing about Sage that would prevent this. The videocard is what matters. Most videocards SHOULD let you boot up straight to a TV. I'm using an old Gefroce3 Ti200 (I don't recogmend this card) on a computer and it boots straight up to the TV output and loads Sage full screen no problem. Thing is it took me about 6 hours of trying different drivers to find one that would work. Newer cards however *should* do this just fine. |

You can utilize a TV and monitor at the same time. I'm able to view Sage TV client on both my monitor and TV at the same time... all you need is a good video card that has the outputs for it. -- I'm using a refurbished geforce4 Ti 4200 with a DVI flat panel and SVideo with my TV using the clone setting. If your computer is good enough you can extend your desktop to your TV and have Sage reside on the TV while the monitor is showing something else.
