HDTV and PVR-500s
Ok, so I called my cable company (Time Warner in Austin) and found out that it was actuallying going to be cheaper to get digital cable and an HDTV upgraded converter, than I was already paying for standard. So, I just got home with the new box, and reprogramed the tuners to the correct EPG.
Can the PVR-500s be hooked up to the HDTV converter? All I am getting right now is static on every channel of the tuner and the converter. TIA, DwarF

Nevermind. You can't use them together. As there are only 25 HDTV channels, I am going to go back to standard cable. I am not a sports fan, and the rest are news.

The answer to your question is that no, not really, the PVR-500 does not support HDTV. That being said, you can normally hook up the HD cable converter to your PVR-500 using an S-Video connection, but you lose your HD that way (it should get down-converted to a standard signal).
The preferred way to get HD would be using one of the supported HD cards, and/or look into the thread talking about 1394 (firewire) recording. Kind of a moot point since you took it back, but thought I'd throw it out there. |
