Red status bar on recording

I had a recording cut off with 1 minute left in the show. The recording status bar at the bottom had a large red line terminating the green bar. I started deleting things from the disk assuming it was a dispace issue, but I never checked that assumption before I started deleting. Does that thick read bar mean it has run out of space?

To me the red line terminating the green bar means that it was supposed to be recorded but wasn't. Do you have some show with a start padding that maybe cut into it? Signal loss from the antenna or cable?

Right -- the red bar just means it is a section of the show that didn't get recorded; see p. 112 in the v4.1 manual for all the various colors. It could have been missed for a variety of reasons, so it doesn't indicate any one problem.
