where do I start?

I just installed SageTV and Hauppauge 150 card...I set most of the rendering, filtering, decoding settings to "default"...My picture almost fills the screen..There is about a .5 inch band around the picture. Also, my picture is darker than it should be. The sound is good though.

So, which of these decoders, filters, renders do I start changing to move forward?

My video card is a Nvidia 6200 and I have plenty of processor and motherboard... using XP Pro.

Thanks, Gary

The first place I would start is searching the forum for display calibration. You will find a lot of good infor.

One thing I did with my 6200 was start with the display calibration built into the NVIDIA drivers. You may look there.

There is also a thread on using ffdshow to help with calibration.

To adjust how much of the screen the video covers, you could try Detailed Setup -> Multimedia -> Aspect Ratio Settings. It might be easier to do that adjustment while video is playing in the background of the menu.

You can use the Overscan Settings to adjust the size of the UI on the TV.

If the image doesn't get any larger, then maybe there is a driver setting to be changed for it to fill the TV screen.

Go to SETUP ->> SETUP VIDEO SOURCES -->> Haupauge WinTV Pvr -->> Color calibration on the upper left hand side.

You can adjust everything in this section much like in your TV.

Are you running VGA out? or S-video out to a TV? I had an issue with NVIDIA and S-video out. I could stretch it in the NVIDIA console but then Sometimes it would fix itsself and the picture would be to big and I'd lose too much.. I ended up switching to a ati based card with S-vid out and all was well...
