Recommendations on audio codec

Well, now that I have my MVPs and SageTV up and running (more or less - MVP client needs some tweaking IMHO), I figure it's time I start burning my CDs to my hard drive so as to clean up the family room shelves a bit.

So, for a newbie who has never ripped a CD before, what are your recommendations? I would like the easiest possible integration with SageTV with all of the possible bells and whistles (ID tags, etc.). Also, from what I have been able to reseach a "lossless" seems to be the preferred approach. The plan is to get an iPod as well, so a format that is somewhat rather easily portable over to the iPod would be nice as well. For example, I understand AAC would be the best, but thanks to Apple, isn't usable on much non-iPod stuff.

I have read a little bit of the thread on the Winamp plugin for SageTV and, as a newbie, am not entirely sure I fully get it, but yet kind of think I do. Would that be the best approach (seems to support ACC...will that work through Sage...in particular the MVPs?).

Thanks!!!

I think that the MVP's right now will only play MP3 files. If you're wanting to use it I'd stick with mp3 for the time being (maybe they'll add transcoding for other music formats with a newer beta).
