FYI: Talisman firmware on Linksys router not SageTV compatible

I have run Talisman 1.05 firmware on my Linksys WRT54G for some time. My SageTV server PC connects wirelessly.

Although my office and laptop PC can connect to my SageTV server PC using ping, ftp, VNC and other protocols, the SageTV client will not operate. It reports no error while connecting, displays the menus and the current guide, but attempts to stream a video from the recorded programs yields a SageTV Client error - the file no longer exists.

I determined that the problem is with the Talisman firmware (it has been reset to its defaults during troubleshooting). The SageTV client works correctly when wirelessly connecting via a Cisco AP and also correctly if I re-flash the WRT54G with Linksys' firmware. So Talisman is fouling up handling port connections I suppose.

I haven't used Talisman, but I remember having wireless connection problems with satori. Have you tried disabling loopback under Administration? It's worth a try.

disable loopback - nope.

I have abandoned Talisman (and my $20 / yr subscription). Just too many instability problems. No significant added features over Linksys'.

It's hard to beat an old PC running monowall. It's QoS works really well, and can boot from flash so no HD needed.

Thanks,
Mike
