Comcast/Motorola 6200

I understand this is an HD box, correct?

Well here is my story. I have to go to the comcast office this weekend to return a digital box for a TV that will no longer have digital, so, I figured I could kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone. The other digital box on my other TV(which is not HD, neither TV is HD) is a 2500 and has been acting up recently, so I was wondering if I got a 6200 by saying I had an HDTV would it work on an SDTV that is not progressive scan? Also the TV has component, S-video in if that matters at all. Thanks! I should also note that I have no interest in actually viewing HD channels(all 4 of them) on this TV. So if just the digicable and 1-99 work I'm finw/ that, but I may hook it up to a computer for HD viewing at a later date.

I also just realized that I think the box would be a 5100

Yes, it's an HD box and yes it has an s-video connection and yes you should be able to view all the channels (including the HD channels) out the s-video port. But obviously the HD channels won't be HD anymore. With all that said, I haven't done this since my 6200 is hooked up via DVI.

I understand from looking at comcast's site that they offer the 5100 instead of the 6200 does this make a difference and can I still record HD over the firewire? Thanks very much for the quick replies!

I'm not familiar with the 5100. I have the 6200 HD box as well as the 6412 dual tuner HD DVR box. I record the unencrypted HD channels via firewire with the 6200 box in SageTV. The 6412 is not integrated with my SageTV system. I just use it for what it's intended for since it allows me to record all digital channels not just the unencrypted ones.
