LiteOn LVD-2001 works great with SageTV files
Just thought I'd drop a note to the community. I recently bought one of the new LiteOn LVD-2001 Stand alone DVD players. I can't say enough good things about that unit but the reason I thought it might be of interest to folks here is I can take their SageTv Mpeg-4 files burn them to CD or DVD and play them in the DVD player .. no conversion.. no special formats .. just burn them as files to a data disk and this player deals with them flawlessly.
www.liteonit.com in the US has all the info.. I purchased mine through PC Club for $149.00 ...a good price for a progressive scan DVD player even without all the extras. -Drew |

I looked into some stand alone DVD players capable of playing Mpeg-4(Divx,Xvid) as well as the normal Mpeg-2 and they cost a lot more than $150. In the end I ended up buying an Xbox and then modding it to use XBMP. Now I'v got a networked DVD, Divx, CD, and MP3 player all rolled into one. Now if only Frey would make a SageTV Client for Linux. |

It will play most anything Mpeg-4, Mpeg-2, Divx, Xvid, Mp3, etc.
It is $149.00 at PC Club (http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...temno=A1546967) All in all a great unit. It even comes with a PC Card slot and two adapters to view digital pictures or play MP3s from Compact Flash or Secure Digital type memory cards. LiteOn has even built in a firmware flash system for it and they provide the ISO image on their website to burn and boot from to flash the player when/if needed. -Drew |

That's a DVD burner for $149.00!?!?
Wow, I may consider getting into dvd recording now. Last time I checked the prices on blank DVDs they were still too high for me. Brad |

Not a burner
The LVD-2001 is a stand alone DVD PLAYER.. saddly not a burner.
The least expensive DVD burner I have seen was around the same $150 price though. If you can aford the upgrade the new Pioneer A06(About $250-300) is a dual format (DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W) and pretty much best of breed right now. The media is comming down in price in bulk you can get DVD-R's for just under $1/ea. |
