Client question

Alright, here's my deal. I'm thinking of building a little VIA client for bedroom.

Right now I have a cable box going into my PVR 350 and I'm going to split the cable so the s video goes from the STB into the 350 and so does the cable straight from the wall (using the 350's built in tuner).

My client won't have a tuner card at all. It will be a really basic system, possible using just a CF card instead of a hard drive.

Now that you're all up to speed on my current and future systems. . . On to my question.

When I'm watching live TV on the client box and something is recording on the server will it default to the free tuner? Is there any way to tell the client to use a specific tuner in the server and never use the other?

One thing, though... what free tuner are you talking about? You only mentioned a 350, but you listed 2 inputs. The 350 may have multiple inputs, but it only has a single encoder, meaning you can't record 2 things on it at the same time. Are you including a tuner you haven't listed?

Ohhh. . . I was hoping, and it seemed possible, to use the 350 for both. Utilizing the STB's tuner and the 350's tuner.

Looks like I'll be getting myself another tuner card.
