Black Lines on high contrast areas (PVR-350)
I'm haveing an issue with my TV recepetion and I'm not sure what is causing it. It has black lines in "high contrast" areas. They show up very visibily in shows like Family Guy or Futurama. Since they are cartoons they often have two vivid colors next to each other and it's like the black lines 'smear' acros the next color a few inches. (always from left to right)
One constant source of it is the "Audlt Swim" logo. Since it's white with a black border it always has Horizontal black lines jumping across it. This doesn't happen across the whole screen so I don't think it is a signal strength issue (though I did try plugging straight into the outlet and it's the same). Some colors are worse than others and my best description is that the higher the contrast (black to white) the worse they are. I've tried the SageTV Mpeg-2 as well as the Hauppauge Mpeg-2 codec updated from the website. Neither seems any different. Anyone have any suggestions? It's not bad on normal tv really, but I can't stand it on my favorite Adult Swim shows! Edit: I forgot to mention before. The black lines show up weather I'm showing SageTV on the computer monitor, TV, or even if I watch something recorded with Sage on the client. So I'm sure this has to do with the Hauppauge PVR-350. Maybe a picture will explain what I'm talking about. In this one you can see how light colors are "streaking" real bad. Though on Lois' shirt you can also see some of the black lines doing it to.
When in motion this seems to be a lot worse. The lenght of each line varries as does the point of origin. ![]() Another example for ya ![]() Last edited by Arioch5; 01-10-2006 at 11:49 AM. |

AHH I found it! It's my cable. For some reason my cable has these lines on this channel only. I don't think it's always been there but it is now. Would a cable booster help this? I get these on any TV in my house

I had a similar problem that was improved, but not eliminated, by replacing the old coax cable with better quality stuff. I also bought better splitters. I tried a signal booster but that didn't change anything.
Good luck. |
