Phantom remote - assume windows messages

OK, this is a bit strange but I need to ask if anyone has seen this happen...

You're watching a show and all of a sudden what appears to be an extra "select" message appears, popping up the info and time bar. Sometimes it's a "down" and I get a question about changing to a different channel. Sometimes it pulls up the "right click" menu. I just can't explain it. Even leaving it at the main menu, it could be somewhere else by the time I get home.

Does anyone know of any applications that are simply NOT compatible with the windows message process used by Sage? Or is there another way to make this reliable?

Windows messages require the name of the window to send the message too (sort of how it targets which application) so it'd be very odd for messaging to be the cause...how about maybe a glitchy remote or wireless mouse?

I'll confirm by pulling the USB reciever for the mouse/keyboard and blocking the Hauppauge IR reciever.

It's as good a call as any. Until I confirm that it's NOT the recievers, it might be.

It looks like there is a similar discussion with other ideas here: SageTV changing channels by itself?
