Multi Tuner XMLTV

I'm looking to purchase a Hauppauge 500MCE to go with my 250MCE.

I'm in New Zealand so use XMLTV for my EPG source.

If i get the extra tuners, will i see 3 lines in the guide for each channel or just one ?

Also, i remember reading somewhere you need to pay extra if you want more than 2 tuners, is that still the case ?

I don't use XMLTV, but if the networks are the same, they would be combined in the guide even if the channel/station number is different SageTV tracks which channel to use for each network on each tuner. Someone with XMLTV can confirm.

The real reason I'm replying is to say that there hasn't been an extra fee for multiple tuners in the same system, so I'm not sure where you heard that. If you wanted to use networked encoders (install your tuners in a PC other than the server), then you would need another full copy of SageTV to act as the encoder on that other PC... but again: you can install as many tuners as the PC can handle.

Dalty,

If each of the tuner has the same channel lineup then you will only see one line per channel.

This means that you feed SageTV epgplugin the same xlmtv file for each capture source(tuner).

As an example, I have 3 capture devices, 2 with a tuner.

For each tuner capture device I specify the same off the air(OTA) TV channel line-up and I feed the same xmltv data file.

For the 3rd device I have a satellite STB connected to an SVideo input which has different channels and I feed it a different xmltv data file.

I took care so that each TV channel number is unique.

The result is an epg with channels 1-14 for the OTA channels which can be tuned by SageTV on either of the 2 TV cards and channels 101-999 which are tuned on the 3rd capture card.

Hope this helps.

thats brilliant. thanks for your replies.

Opus4, i thought i read that sage only supported 2 tuners then you had to pay in version 2.1. after searching around in google, i may have been looking at the snapstream site (even though i use sage which rocks, i like to keep an eye on the industry).

cheers.
