Newbie question??
When using the PVR 250 card, does the TV get connected to the Hauppauge pvr 250 card or does your current video card and sound card do the video and sudio output to the computer? I'm not sure what type of inputs/outputs are available on the PVR 250 card.
If you do use your current video card for output, then I am assuming the MPEG2 decoding is done by software rather than hardware like the encoding is? Thanks, Rob |

The pvr-250 is connected to your video/tv source by coax s-video, or composite video cables. The pvr-250 encodes to mpeg-2 using an onboard hardware encoder. The files created can be played like any other video file on your computer using your video card and sound card. The decoding is done in software like you said. The pvr-250 doesn't output video to your TV, so you'll need a video card with tv out or a vga to TV converter if you want to watch it on a TV.
