MVP Network Question

I know it is suggested that the MVP use a wired connection to the home network.

I would like to hear from others if they have tried Wireless. I would be using the Linksys WRT54g router with a WAP54g access point on the MVP end.

Running wire to the MVP is just not possible.

Thanks to all.

Didn't work for me, using two WAP54g in bridge mode: stutter city

After pluging into the cat5 cable, it was smooth sailing.

Prior to the MVP I was using a HTPC and a sageTV client, using the same network config, it worked with *no* stuttering.... go figure.

I had success with Matts client using 108MB wireless connections between my server and access point.
The 54MB wireless connection to the MVP had some real issues, so i had to hard wire it around the bedroom doors (not very high WAF).

With the new MVP client, forget about wireless. I get stutters with or without. unwatchable - even with fully wired network.

With Matt's MVP plugin it worked fine over wireless-G (netgear). With the official MVP media extender, I had no luck. I've since wired my house for CAT5e (which I was planning to do anyway). You will notice in my sig that I still stream to the Sage Client running on my laptop via wireless-G and it works fine.

For what it's worth, my setup using Matt's plug-in was a Belkin F5D7330 Wireless Adapter on the MVP, and the server also using wireless, all through a Linksys WCG200 cable gateway. That worked fine, albeit with an occasional connection drop.

With the official client, I had serious stuttering until I switched the server to a wired connection to the gateway. The MVP is still wireless and the whole thing is working fine now, except for some very slight pixelation when starting to view a recording or after skipping forward. I did have to use the latest beta MVP.BIN to get it to work at all; prior to that, it was stuck on "Starting Application..."
