Static and performance problems with new computer

Hi!

I decided to use my old computer (Athlon 1100, 256mb ram, Abit KT7, GeForce 440MX) as a dedicated PVR server. So I switched my WinTV 350 to this computer and installed XP SP2 and the latest SageTV and drivers. But now I have two problems:

1- The image quality is terrible: there is static (snow) in the tv signal, while the image was perfect on the other computer. I'm using the same cables, and the computer is right next my other computer, so I don't think it's any "exterior" interference.

2- SageTV takes a lot of resources when displaying TV (like 80% of the CPU), while on the other computer it was barely noticeable. What's weird is that the CPU usage drops when I'm in the menus, even if it is still recording in the background. I thought that the 350 was doing encoding and decoding, but obviously there's a problem with the decoding?

Thanks in advance!

Did you set up the PVR350 to use the TV-out? I think you need to do that for it to use the hardware decoder.

I'm not using the PVR350's TV-Out, I'm using the GeForce's TV-Out. But I'll try it anyway tonight, thanks.

I think you are right: Sage is using the PVR350 decoder only when outputting to the PVR350's TV-out. I downloaded the nvidia mpeg2 decoder, and the CPU usage is a little better (40-60%). Hope that will be enough...

But for the image quality problem, I still don't have a clue why switching the TVTuner to another computer changed the quality so much...
