Stop Recording but save it
When recording a show, not just watching live tv but having actually
told SageTV to record the show, when I hit the record button again and tell it to stop recording is there any way to have it still save what portion of the show I've recorded? Ideally I'd like a menu that asked me if I'd like to "stop and forget" for "stop and save". I'd like this so that if I'm only interested in the portion of the show I've recorded I can still save it w/o having to watch the rest or adjust the ending time of the show to 'now'. thanks. |

Anyone know if there's an option I could use to do this?
When I record from a composite input, and I don't have an EPG for it, I'd like to be able to hit 'stop' when the video is over but still have SageTV save the file. Related to this - when there is no EPG for a channel (like composite input) it seems to default to 2 hours per show. When I go to record a video playing thru that input it will then obvious want to stop at the end of the current 2 hr segment - which could be anywhere from 1 to 2 hrs. Is there a way to have the EPG guide for composite inputs treat it like one (never ending) show? Basically, wait for me to hit 'stop'? Of course, I'd need the feature from the first para too :-) |

i think you have to edit the sage.properties file. shut down all sage processes and open the sage.properties file in notepad and find this line,
seeker/clear_partials_and_unwanted_when_ir_off=false make sure it says false and save the file and reload sagetv. i'm sure there is an option for this in v4 and up, but i'm using v2.2.8 at the moment. as for the composite input recordings, its better to set a manual recording. you can specify how long you want it to record for. thats what i did when i recently transfered a 6 hour VHS tape. |

When I turn on that option it saves all video files - even the ones created while channel surfing - which wouldn't be so bad if they showed up in the list of videos. Instead I have to manually bring up a cmd window, cd into that
dir and erase 'em. Seems like there should be some middle-ground option. On the positive side it did save my partially recorded show - but sadly filling-up my disk with these other files would prevent me from being able to use it. |
