Showanalyzer settings?

Are there any settings that I should be using with show analyzer? It seems that it only catches 15% of the commercials in my MEPG2 files. Also SA crashes before it finishes processing the file. So for a 2GB mepg i'm getting txt files of less than 30 bytes. Something must be wrong since it seems this is what everyone is using for commerical skipping. I'm also thinking of getting videoredo to edit the files for me using SA output. But first I need to get SA up and working as advertised.

The txt files created by SA are small since they only contain a series of numbers. 30 bytes sounds about right.

Regarding the crashing: Can you elaborate on what it is doing?

Windows tells me that showanalyzer.exe has experienced some problems and must shut down and then it asks me to go through the bug reporting process:

I've attached two text files generated for the show "24" where SA missed a good majority of the commercials.

Looking at my txt files generated I see that i either have on or two lines of numbers or I have no numbers at all with the words "FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE" in the text. Is this normal?

In addition to this i have noticed the SA leaves phantom icons in my systray. If i hovermy pointer over them they go away. This to me usually means a process didn't terminate correctly. Any suggestions?

What you are experiencing is definately not normal. If you can be patient with me for just a little while longer. I will get an update out Sunday {fingers crossed}.

Then we can see if that one crashes on you. If it doesn't, great. If it does then we can troubleshoot from there.

Sorry if i sounded impatient. I really do appreciate all the work you've done with this software and the interface. I know what it's like to have a lot of projects on your plate and trying to get them all done in a timely fashion is hard. I'll check back on this thread on sunday!

Is there any debugging you would like me to do to get you more info? I'm not afraid to tinker with my system if it means getting you the info you need to troubleshoot my issue. My system specs are in my sig.

I suspect that a RELEASE version (i.e. Version 1.0) is many moon away. However, a real, supported, not crazy acting 0.6.0 is just around the corner. And the detection is not as accurate, but it handles the misdetections better.

See, in my experience, SA is either dead on or way, way off. SA is much better behaved now. It doesn't go crazy and mark half the show as a commercial. The registered version is also about 50-80% faster.
