Anyhow, seeing as I had no trouble at all when using Matt's plugin, and the original Hauppauge mvp.bin seems to work fine, it appears that there may be an issue with the code within sage's mvp.bin file.. or not.. what do I know? I'll keep testing though, and hoping for a solution! |

okay, quick update. Rolled back to the alpha mvp.bin that i originally tested for the DGL-4300 problem. The stuttering happens at the begining of playback and if i FF or REW through the file. If i leave it playing the stuttering eventually stops and happens for a few seconds every 5 mins. or so.

I believe the bad random studdering with the beta version may be due to use of the power on/off button. I have now had the MVP up for 1 day 13 hours without using that button and have not seen any real bad studdering. I do still see an occasional random studder. I do see the studdering when skipping but I believe that is a different issue from the random studdering.
I also believe that when the random studder does become very bad, a complete power disconnect and reboot of the MVP is the best way to correct the problem. Can anyone else verify the above observations

I can't confirm the stuttering or studdering (sp?) That said, I have noticed a more rock slid experience if I leave the MVP on. If I use the beta MVP.bin and power off the device, after the 2nd or 3rd time with some time in the middle...Sage gets stuck at the loading screen. THe fix, for me, has been rebooting the server...or leave the MVPs on.

I rolled back to 4.1.3 and the stuttering is fixed caveat that the overall MVP performance is less 'snappy' but it stopped the aweful studdering.

Are you using a Dlink DGL series router? 4.1.4 was the general release that supported these routers. Otherwise rolling back to 4.1.3 wont help those of us using these routers. The alpha mvp.bin i tested reduces the problems but at least it allows my MVP to boot on my network.

Sorry let me clarify the info I will be using in my posts:
alpha mvp.bin = original test mvp.bin given to me by _Demo_ to test compatability with the DGL series routers from D-Link beta mvp.bin = officially released mvp.bin by _Demo_ in the first post in this thread. GA mvp.bin = mvp.bin released with the general release of SageTV ie 4.1.3 etc..

Last night I replaced the mvp.bin with the 'GA' version just for comparison.. it still skipped, still threw a ton of overrun errors and the lip sync went out very quickly.. this on 4.1.4beta.. so I put back the most recent 'Beta' of the MVP.bin that is in the first post of this thread.. that fixes the sync issues but of course there is still the stutter.. |

What about PAL
Peter, I got an identical problem. I got an Hauppauge MediaMVP with scart connection to my TV. Using the new .bin gives me a yellow/green image, I had to go back to the old .bin.
And as you, the power-off didn't work either with the new .bin. Do you also have to hit the GO button instead of the MENU button to go back to the main menu? => Correction: this was my first entry, so I blew it a bit. Ok, it's now clear to me the new .bin which can be tested is not supporting PAL (color issue) nor the 'old' remote which I apparently have (the original hauppauge one). Will follow this 'cause I would like the remote to function a bit better (e.g., also have the MENU button go to the MENU). Last edited by JParedis; 01-17-2006 at 05:35 PM. |

4.1.5 is the way to go!
The GA release of the mvp.bin in SageTV version 4.1.5 fixed all my playback issues. There is absolutely no stuttering at all during playback even if I use the REW or FF buttons. Awesome job _Demo_ on the new build and to the rest of the crew thanks! The MVP is living up to my expectations and now I can focus on getting ShowAnalyzer to work on all of my shows of commercial skipping.

Meaning you did a full install of 4.1.5 including the mvp.bin? Or did you pull the mvp.bin from that install and combine it with an early Sage install? |

I did a upgrade on top of 4.1.4. I'm running SageTV 4.1.5 now and using the mvp.bin that came with it. All my playback issues have been resolved and the UI is working without any major problems. At least nothing that a power cycle of the MVP wont fix

If I install SageTV 4.1.5, will it include this mvp.bin file? Or do I still have to download it seperately and install it too?

4.1.5 includes the mvp.bin file you will need.
