USB-UIRT Not Recognized
I just got my USB-UIRT and I am having a strange problem that I hope some one can help me with. When I plug the USB-UIRT into any USB port on my Media computer (the one running SageTV), nothing happens. Windows XP (Pro Sp1) doesn’t recognize that anything has been plugged in. I did try the UIRT on another XP machine, and it was recognized right away so it is not a problem with the UIRT. I tried plugging a different USB device into a USB port on my Media computer and that too was not recognized. It seems to be something weird with the Media computer. I tried going into safe mode and deleting all the USB root hubs, but that didn’t seem to clear up the problem. Does any one have any suggestions?
Thanks,

A few things come to mind.
Do you have any USB devices plugged in? Do they show up in Windows XP? Are you using the USB port on the rear or front of the computer? If it's the front it should have a cable that connects to the motherboard. Make sure it's hooked up correctly the rear should be hard wired. Is USB support turned on in the BIOS I also believe there is a way to turn off the auto detects of new hardware devices in Windows XP, could this be the cause? I can’t remember where you would find this. Maybe someone could help on this. Have you tried manually adding it with “Add new hardware icon in control panel”. Good Luck |

I have had the system since April, and I don't think I tried installing any USB device until now, so no, there aren't any USB devices plugged in. I have six USB ports (with three USB Root Hubs) and they all show up in the device manager. I tried all six USB ports without any luck and even deleted all the USB root hubs and let windows re-install them. I am assuming that USB is turned on in the BIOS since the root hubs are recognized, plus the Dell machine is new so I can't imagine that being disabled. Auto detect works fine for other, non-USB devices, so I think that is working fine as well. I did try to do a manual install using "Add new hardware" which didn't work either since Windows wasn't seeing that the device was plugged in. Thanks again,
