Speaker setup question

Hi all,

I have just setup another family member with SageTV and hooked his computer up to his HDTV. He wants to rid himself of all extra components possible. The snag that I'm running into is his audio receiver. Right now he has the 5.1 channel on-board sound card hooked up to his reciever with rca cables. Only outputting stereo through a y-splitter.
He would like to buy either a 5.1 Surround sound reciever with the proper PC inputs or a set of PC speakers that will not only let him hook up to his PC (In 5.1) but also let him hook up his DirecTV 5.1 reciever to it as well.

Any ideas?

Most sound cards nowadays have an optical output... Get a reciever with optical in and a fiber optic cable and yer set.

Assuming the current solution doesn't have a digital out, get one of these:

Reciever is trickier as there are so many
