Media Extender - Video jerky & sound not in sync

I am running SageTV 4.1.4.68 on a 3ghz machine (512ram). I just installed the media extender on my living room TV (a few false starts, but I finally got it working).

Anyway, the video playback is very jerky and the sound is totally out of sync. I do have another computer running Sage Client that also logs onto this SageTV server and the playback there is flawless.

We are running through a 4 port Linksys (router/firewall) and an 8 port Linksys switch (5-6 computers). I also have a 300gig Maxtor Lan drive plugged into the system as well (I use it to store my Sage recordings).

I admit, I do not know alot about Lans and what not. I buy the stuff, follow directions (some of which I do not understand) and plug things in, they work. If anyone has any ideas that I can try, could you toss them my way.

Thanks
Russ

Had same problem. Solved by changing NIC in server. Used a wired USB ethernet adapter. I have 2 MPV working at same time. My machine is 2.0 gh, 1mb memory.

Could you be more specific here? I do not know what you mean by "changing the NIC in server"

Thanks

Sorry for the brevity. The "NIC" = network interface card.
I was using the motherboard onboard ethernet interface and having several problems including shuttering, changing advanced settings in windows network properties fixed most but shuttering continued no matter what settings I used. I added an external USB ethernet adapter ( that's all I had laying around ) and connected to my network with it. Seems to work well now.
It appears that the MPV is sensitive to network interface devices. It may have always been, but showed up as disconnects with matt's plug in.
At least one other post in the MPV area seems to go along with this idea.

Hope this helps

You could try importing this registry file from Hauppauge. http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/softw...timization.reg

Hauppauge calls it their "TCPIP Optimization - to improve the network performance when sending video to the MediaMVP"

It changes the following settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"TcpWindowSize"=dword:000f4240
"Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000001

This cleared up any stuttering problems I had. I have the Linksys WRT54GS router which has the 4 port switch as well. I have 2 MVP's running just fine. One MVP is hardwired into this router, the 2nd MVP is linked wirelessly from a 2nd WRT54GS using WDS as a wireless bridge. Both work fine.

Regarding the audio sync problem. I too thought I had a problem when watching one of the network channels and had to fiddle with the audio delay, but when i changed channels-it was off again. Turns out at least one of my network channells has the audio off---all other channels work fine and are in sync. Kind of Weird i think.

Yeeeeeeeeees

This appears to have worked

I couldn't figure out how to import that link so I simply manually added the strings in regedit, rebooted (don't know if that was necessary) then powered the Extender box then opened a show. I only watched for about 5 min (don't have time right now) but there was no stuttering and sound was all in sync.

Perfect
Thanks
Russ

Cool, glad it worked. Importing a reg file is easy. Just save the file to your hard drive and then double click on it.

I love this forum; I was having this same problem, downloaded the file, and BAM! no more sync issues.

Even a year later....
