Volume is very low on Avermedia A180
I just recently switched to SageTV from GB-PVR. It is working very well for the most part. However, in both SageTV and GB-PVR, the volume has been extremely low when watching TV off of my A180 card compared to everything else in my system (such as my PVR150 or anything else I play) and I usually have to turn my TV volume up all the way to get a reasonable volume. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Is there a way to increase the sound volume on this particular card? Any advice appreciated - thanks!

I have the same problem.
I did a google search and come up with this comment over on "thegreenbutton", whatever that is. Believe it or not I installed FFDSHOW and was playing with that and now all my sound is the same regardless of the source. I do remember having a normalize audio box checked, but wow! someone else give it a try and let me know. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi...rs/ffdshow.cfm Perhaps there are audio codecs that support audio leveling? I'm still trying to figure this one out. Paul |

I'm having the exact same problem on my system, and I'm using a FusionHDTV3+. I've noticed that shows on PBS (KLRU Austin) don't have that problem. I wonder if it's related to the audio encoding of the source? IE, if the source is dolby digital, maybe things are much quieter, because I'm just playing boring old stereo. I'll be hooking my box up to a DD-capable receiver via SP/DIF soon, so we'll see if the volume fixes itself.

Low volume issues till persist for me and the A180. I tried installing ffdshow the other night. I had to add a some info to the sage.prop file to get the ffdshow audio filter to show up on the config list but it eventually worked out. The only oddity was that ffdshow normalized the music but not the dialog. Very strange. There didn't seem to be any "apply normalization to all channels" or anything like that.
The tuner built into my TV doesn't seem to have any problems getting the volume correct. I'm not sure what's involved but it would be nice if Sage handled it. Paul |
