Germsage Refresh Problem

Hello - has anyone run into this problem before. I want to play the Nero AVC files in Sage and my understanding is I need to install the Germsage plug in. When I do that it's like the screen looks strange and in double vision with shadows in the background without a cursor and certain arrows like the back in the upper left corner is not there at all and it's just all messed up. I tried turning off the video acceleration but that didn't work. I am going to try and attach a jpg file of a screen shot (if I do this right) for you to see what I mean. Thanks for the help.

Where did you unzip the zip file & where is SageTV installed? The STV's instructions say to unzip it in the \SageTV\ directory, but you may have <some path>\SageTV\SageTV\<etc>.

Make sure to unzip it in the directory where the SageTV exe files are so that the STV gets placed in the same location as the default STV when you preserve the dir structure as it is unzipped -- \SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\.

I'm guessing that the STV is currently in some directory by itself, where there are no graphics files that it uses.

Yes - that was it...I had it one directory too high. Thanks so much....One thing though...I have as the default in windows for the movie to play using the Nero player but it is using windows media player and I'm not quite sure why. Otherwise, it is now working great.

Thanks,
Mike

C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\Externals\videoplayer.cmd
This should be the path to the file you have to edit.
"C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero ShowTime\ShowTime.exe" %1 /fullscreen /prefetch:1
Above is my videoplayer.cmd file.

I'm confused. I see the videoplayer.cmd file in that path. But am I supposed to put this path/filename: "C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero ShowTime\ShowTime.exe" %1 /fullscreen /prefetch:1

somewhere? I don't quite understand what you are saying or where to designate in a file somewhere to look for the nero player? Also, where can I get the remote ir file?

Thanks,
Mike

I think the path to showtime.exe is different in version 7 than in my example (v6.6).
Right click the videoplayer.cmd file and choose edit.
there you will see it states windows media player. Right?
change it to showtime.

I gave you instructions in the reply i sent in the thread where you asked for it.

Got it...that works...I have to say though that a cmd extension on videoplayer is very deceiving since I would have expected either an extension of cfg, txt or ini. cmd from the old days is like exe today.

Thanks again,
Mike

Yes - the remote is now working...thanks. I'm still running a lot of tests before dumping the Tivo units.

By the way...two questions...First, what program do you like to use to rip your dvd's to the computer. Second, I'm wondering how you like to organize your folders with all those movies you now have on the computer. One could set it up under categories such as drama, mystery, etc....or just alphabetically A-C, etc...Seems like it would be nice to have multiple categories per movie....Perhaps one day I'll try writing a plug in to do that.

One other thing - I just discovered that sometimes when I press the channel up or down button on my remote it's skipping a chapter (like going from 2 to 4). It seems to do it when I press n or p instaed of using the remote so it may be something with the nero player. Have you noticed this also?

Thanks again,
Mike

Personally, I have all my movies in one lump right now. It just makes it easier, because as you say, there are some movies that fit into multiple genres. If they are all together, there's no missing them.

Makes for a lot of scrolling, but it's OK.

I do separate out concert videos, holiday-themed movies, and TV episode DVDs, as they have fairly clear-cut dividing lines.

Glad to hear you got your rendering issue straightened out - I've been away from the forums for a while and missed all the talk about it!

Actually - I started thinking about writing my own program if there wasn't one already available to search for titles in a variety of ways. Sometimes, you don't always get the movie quite just right like if there is a "THE" in front of the title then do you search with or without that word. So, I thought it might be nice to have something where you can just plug in any one word in the filename or search by key words or an actor, etc.

I'm wondering if anyone out there thinks a program like that might be handy. In addition, perhaps it could have weblinks to quickly go off to any particular webisite.

You can use the internal Search command in Sage. You can bypass "THE" when searching. WHen you are using subfolders to store Imports like Genres, it shows up in the search results.
IE: I have my movie imports at
\\superman\Movies
inside that folder is another folder called Movies, and inside that is a couple of grouped Genres like Action-Adventure, Drama, Family-Comedy-Romance, SciFi-Thriller, Suspense-Mystery, Westerns...
If I do a search for Young guns and it is in the guide as a future airing it will show Young Guns and also find it in the Import and disply it as: Movies\Westerns\Young Guns
Even if you type in just Young or Guns it will show up. It will even show up if you type in "Youn".
SageTV's search feature is quite inpressive. But you cannot search by actor or description, only Title.

By title is good enough for me. How does one access the search feature?

Thanks,
Mike
