Question Original Sage STV with Comskip ?

Nothing against the STV mods, but I love the clean and simple look of the Original Sage STV.
Question: Is there a way to make use of comskip using the Original Sage STV look, if so how ?

Thanks
Fluffy

OK I read the five pages of the link you posted, And for the life of me I still not sure what I read or if comskip works in 4.0

"This module DOES NOT run comskip itself: you will need to do that manually, or use a tool such as DirMon or ShowAnalyser "

It looks like a lot more needs to be done to get comskip in Original Sage STV then Malroe's STV and comskip stvi. Oh well. back to Malroe's STV until I read the thread over again 3 or 4 times.................slowly

Thx

In a nutshell, there are 3 things you need to set up in order to do commercial skipping:

1. Either Comskip (free, open source) OR Showanalyzer ($10, closed source)
2. Dirmon (free, closed source) or an STV(i) that starts the choice in 1.
3. Nielms comskip import or another STV(i) that reads and executes the commercial skips.

Number 1 is the heart of it all. It is the application that analyzes the recorded video and finds the commercial breaks. I personally use Showanalyzer. It is being developed by one of the more prolific coders of comskip for SageTV.

Number 2 is the program needed to start the analyzation whenever a show begins recording. It is also written by the author of Showanalyzer and is a very simple application to install and use.

Both 1 and 2 are best run on the Sage server and are independant of Sage (they can be used for other apps such as MCE, BTV, etc.)

Number 3 is the component needed to take advantage of the work done by 1 and 2 in Sage TV. I use Nielms import to add the ability to read and skip the segments marked by Showanalyzer but most of the STV replacements (SageMC for one) have this built in.
