Smile SageTV V4.1.4 Beta Is Available

Howdy all! Hot on the heels of V4.1.3 we had to give you something else to fix a few things. Let us know if there's any issues by reporting bugs to http://www.sagetv.com/bugs.html

The main thing is PAL MVP support. There's also some WindowsMedia importing fixes and digital TV recording is now done in program stream to make the files more portable. (property setting)

This version can be used under the trial or by registered users.

SageTV: http://download.sage.tv/SageTV_V4_1_4Setup.exe

SageTVClient: http://download.sage.tv/SageTVClient_V4_1_4Setup.exe

Release Notes:

Core Updates

1. Changed default DTV recording type to be program stream. It can be changed back to transport stream with the property: mmc/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=false
2. Fixed WMA/WMV tag parsing plugin so that it adds the relative import path to the title
3. If WindowsMedia tag parser cannot find any title info it will use the default title that SageTV generates now.
4. Fix: no sound in some TV program bug for ATSC recording
5. Fixed bug with WMA/WMV tag parsing where attribute values longer than 1024 would cause a crash.

Media Extender Updates

1. Fix for PAL mode setting on the MVP
2. Disabled frame stepping on the MVP for now since it doesn't work
3. Enabled static IP clients for the MVP server, this can be configured through 2 properties. The gateway is set by: miniserver/gateway and defaults to 192.168.0.1. The static client IP addresses can be set by: miniserver/clients and should be of the form: MVP/00:0D:FE:00:A0:4E/192.168.0.111 with multiple entries being separated by semicolons ';'

Studio Updates

1. Refresh the debug UI components tree view in the Studio whenever popup menus are shown/hidden
2, Removed caching of debug UI components because it wasn't working properly

STV Updates

1. Added option to control menu transition fade time in Detailed Setup -> Customize; uses ui/menu_fade_time property.

Any chance of retaining the service user settings on install? It's kind of annoying having to reset the user settings each time I install

I second that! I've been waiting for long time for Sage to have that option. I have two boxes one uses the old commands and the other the new ones. Sometimes they both work other times only one dose. I've used BeyondTV with both of them and they worked 100% of the time. Then again in BTV you can select new or old commands per box. I really hope that Sage includes this option.

If I loaded this module http://losslessaudio.blogspot.com/on the Sage server, would Sage be able to index my FLAC library with 4.1.4?

Thanks,
Mike

The beta still doesn't address my sound issue with HD DVB recordings produced via my MyTheatre DVB Network Encoder. Any mpeg program stream with an AC3 soundtrack produces no sound within SageTV- Whereas it does with zoomplayer, mediaplayer et al.

I'm quite happy to provide a sample mpeg to resolve this issue. I've reported this twice, once under the SageTV V3 beta and under the SageTV V4.1 GA release with no response thus far..

Cheers

Peter

Any fixes made in the Full Screen Exclusive mode/tearing department? The crashes and tearing are killing me.

I don't think there is any general problem with FSE... I use it all the time and it works perfectly.

Are you using 4.1.3? I didn't have the problems until I upgraded to it.

I have no issues with FSE either. Have you upgraded to the latest nVidia video drivers, 81.98? And when you upgrade do you remove the nVidia drivers from add/remove and reboot so your PC comes up with the VGA driver before installing the new drivers?

FSE works fine for me as well. I'm using a 6600GT and the latest nvidia decoder, dx, and drivers.

My video drivers are at 81.95, and I also upgraded my PureVideo decoder to the latest at that time (ver. *.185 I think). I'll try going up to 81.98 (hopefully before we go out of town on Friday).

And yes, I always do a clean install of the video drivers to avoid issues.

Nothing, it's like mpg vs vob. It's the same data, just packaged differently. Some programs (notably ShowAnalyzer) can't deal with transport streams, and vice versa.

Correct me if I am wrong but I understand that when you multiplexed elementary video, audio, and data streams together you get a complete program in one stream, a program stream.

When you multiplex several program streams together, for example channels 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3, you have a transport stream. A stream that the station can send to the transmitter.

100% CPU Utilization with SageTVService Mode

I have noticed that when recording 3 shows at once, my CPU jumps from the teens (12 -15%) when recording 2 shows at once to 100%. It seems to stay at 100% until it finishes recording. I have 2 PVR 500s and one PVR 150, so a total of 5 at a time possible. I did not see this prior to the 4.x release. (Did not use 4.1.3 long enough to see if it showed the behavior.) However even at 100% the system seems extremely responsive. In service mode is it designed to take up all available CPU?

I have 5 clients that say connected all the times (one of them is now the built in supported MVP).

Has anyone one else seen this.
